Being well-learned in historical clothing, Lacroix's collections drew attention with their over the top, fantastical creations. He drew inspiration not only from a wide range of historical costumes, but also diverse cultures, resulting in unexpected combinations of colors and patterns with each runway show culminating into a true design spectacle.
Though some critics commented that he didn’t know how to design for the working woman, there is no other designer that has set the fashion world on fire as Lacroix has. One of his best quotes, “The idea of seeing everybody clad the same is not really my cup of tea“, goes to show that his unique, irreverent style and fighting spirit have already left a great legacy in the fashion world.
