In 1985, their first collection was shown in Milan, inspired by Italian screen sirens, Sicilian widows and Catholic kitsch. Over the years, their collections evolved from bohemian thrift-store chic to Sicilian glamour queen. In the 90s, they were defined by their superfeminine and fantastical style, which brought them fame and fortune to the amount of $500 million in company revenue.
Though they once claimed they would retire at age 40, both designers and their success are still going strong to this day despite both being over 50 years old. They are arguably the most powerful and influential designers of our time.
