After receiving several requests for his sporty designs, Pucci decided to setup a couture house on the Isle of Capri. He started with a swimwear line which was expanded to include colorfully printed scarves, which eventually led to blouses and printed silk dresses.
He became known as the “Prince of Prints” and had such loyal followers as Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren, Jackie Kennedy, and Madonna.
After Pucci’s death, his daughter Laudomia continued to design under the Pucci name. Luxury goods empire LVMH acquired a 67% stake in Pucci in 2000 and brought in major designers to lead the creative direction of the brand, including Christian Lacroix, Matthew Williamson, and Massimo Giorgetti.
