Saturday, February 2, 2019 Christian Dior decided to visit London for a few months. He dropped all his luggage at the V&A museum in order to be able to discover or rediscover for the most amateurs, his various collections, dating even, for the oldest, from 1947. This exhibition had already taken place in Paris the year beafore at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. The aim of the V&A Museum was to do it even bigger, even more beautiful. The bet was successful because the exhibition by Christian Dior has become the largest fashion show of the V&A Museum since the Alexander McQueen one. The Christian Dior Museum was presented chronologically so that visitors could understand the evolution and inspiration of each Dior's creation. This exhibition showed the talent of Christian Dior and his predecessors as well as his unconditional love for womens.
The V&A Museum wanted to play with the neon lights, decorations, colors and the settings to give a modern and luxurious rendition of the museum and the Dior brand. It was like being in a clothing store, where one would like to buy everything, try everything on. As soon as you had entered the museum, you came nose to nose with the costumes from his first collection of 1947. You continued your trip by "The Dior Line" then "The Dior in Britain" which illustrated the interest that Christian Dior had for England. To enjoy the rest of the visit, I had strongly advised to go in person. Everyone came out with their eyes full of stars and filled with wonder. And to conclude, here is a quote from Christian Dior: "A dress is an ephemeral architecture, that enhances the proportions of the female body.”
